Industrial biocides such as in-can, film and cooling-water preservatives are authorised country by country, and each national registry publishes its data in its own format and language. SEADEV built a web application that collects the registrations from the German, French and Swiss registries, keeps the raw records for audit and normalises them into one model of products, active substances, authorisation holders and product types. Active substances are matched to the European reference list by CAS number and by name, so a product can be found through the substance it contains whatever the source language. Users filter products, substances and holders by country, product type or substance and run a tolerant search across trade names, registration numbers and CAS numbers, while administrators follow collection and data quality on a dashboard. The client's commercial team uses it regularly to find who holds registrations for a given active substance, and further countries are being added.
